Contractors and Service Providers

WEATHERIZATION CONTRACTORS
Would you like to make more money while helping Massachusetts residents save energy and the environment? There are two ways for weatherization and insulation installers to become involved in the MassSAVE program.

  1. Do Contract Work for the Energy Efficiency Vendors
The Program Administrators (utilities and energy efficiency service providers) contract with vendors to operate the program on their behalf. These vendors conduct the Home Energy Assessments and contract with weatherization and insulation installation firms to install measures for the customers. Requirements to participate vary by vendor.

If you would like to receive guaranteed jobs at fixed prices, contact one of the vendors who operate the program:

  2. Do Independent Work for Some Utility Programs
Some utilities (National Grid and NSTAR Gas) offer contractors the opportunity to be included on a list they provide to their customers who are interested in installing weatherization and insulation. Requirements to participate in the National Grid and NSTAR programs are as follows:

    • Contractor must be registered with the state as a home improvement contractor
    • Contractor must carry minimum insurance levels as specified by the utility and name the utility as an additional insured
    • Contractor agrees to be the subject of a background check with the Attorney General's office and/or the Better Business Bureau
    • Contractor agrees to complete rebate applications for customers
